What replaced Daily Eats? Meet South Tampa’s Meeting House
Burgers at lunch, French toast on weekends, and what to know before heading to South Howard Avenue

Daily Eats has a successor: Meeting House is open at 901 S. Howard Avenue, serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch in the familiar South Tampa spot.

If that address used to mean breakfast to you, check the clock before setting off. The current schedule starts at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, with breakfast dishes reserved for weekend brunch. Monday is a day off for the restaurant and, potentially, your lunch plans.

A familiar address with a different menu

Meeting House describes itself as a modern American diner with a relaxed, coastal sensibility. The name also reaches further back into the property's history: the restaurant identifies Old Meeting House as an earlier gathering place on this corner, before Daily Eats.

Ingredient sourcing is part of the new pitch. The restaurant says it uses grass-fed beef, naturally fermented sourdough and wild-caught seafood. Sourdough runs through the menu, from burger buns to French toast.

Former Daily Eats regulars should read the new menu before arriving. A familiar building can still have a different answer to your usual order.

Lunch: burgers and a proper sandwich

The current ordering menu lists a single smashed beef burger at $13, smashed chicken at $14, and the veggie burger at $14. The chopped chicken Philly is $15; a wild fish bun is $17.

Burgers come with a side on the dine-in menu, with a $2 salad upgrade. Check inclusions when ordering online.

For a shared start, mac and cheese costs $9 and sloppy Joe tots cost $14. Expect melted cheese and jalapeño on those tots, so order for the appetite you've actually brought.

Lunch makes sense if the group wants savory food without coordinating around breakfast hours. Someone can choose a sandwich while someone else takes the bowl route. Useful when your lunch companions agree on almost nothing except being hungry.

Weekend brunch: bring the breakfast contingent

Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Posted breakfast choices include oatmeal smash pancakes ($11), Cap'n Crunch French toast ($12) and smash hash ($13). French toast brings together sourdough, crunchy cereal, strawberries and butterscotch; the hash combines beef and mushrooms with tots and eggs.

The brunch menu also includes lunch plates, which helps when one person wants breakfast and their companion has already mentally ordered a burger.

My menu-based pick: lunch for a straightforward catch-up; brunch when breakfast is the reason for leaving home. Anyone devoted to the old weekday breakfast routine should choose a weekend visit.

What to budget

A $13 burger plus a $5 lemonade comes to $18 before tax and tip. French toast at $12 with a $6 latte reaches the same total.

For two people making those choices, that's $36 before extras. An appetizer or another drink will push that total up. The milkshake can make its own persuasive argument, so decide whether you're budgeting for one before the menu arrives.

Prices were checked October 20, 2026, and can change. Use these examples to plan your spending; they're calculated from individual menu prices.

Before you put on real shoes

Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Closed Monday. All times are local Tampa time.

Booking: The official website provides online ordering but no visible table-reservation link. Call 813-868-3335 to ask about reservations, current waits or seating for a larger group. Don't mistake a pickup order for a table booking.

Ask about parking arrangements when you call. If you have an allergy, confirm ingredients and kitchen handling directly; a menu label alone won't answer every question.

Send the current menu to the group chat before choosing your time. Someone will have an opinion about French toast.

See you around town,

Sourdough burger buns are either really good or they fall apart halfway through. Curious which category this place falls into. Might have to go find out.

Mike T.Sourdough buns can go either way for sure. The grass-fed beef thing makes me hopeful they're putting in the effort overall. Let us know if you make it in!

That's exactly the kind of question that requires boots-on-the-ground research, the sourdough-through-the-whole-menu commitment is either a flex or a liability, and we'd love to hear your verdict.

I used to go to Daily Eats for breakfast on weekdays all the time so the no weekday breakfast thing is going to take some getting used to. Guess I'm a weekend brunch person now.

You're not alone in that adjustment. The article's suggestion is to make the Saturday or Sunday 9 a.m. Brunch your new ritual, which at least comes with French toast as compensation.

pattie_kSame boat. That weekday breakfast spot was such a good habit. Weekend brunch crowds are a whole different vibe though so I'm a little nervous about it.

$13 for a smash burger with a side is pretty reasonable for South Howard these days. Prices there have gotten out of control lately.

That side-included pricing does stand out on a street where $13 can disappear fast, and it's part of why we flagged it as a straightforward lunch option for groups.

Ramon EstevesRight? I feel like anything under $15 with a side included is a win on that stretch. Half the places on Howard are charging $18+ for a basic burger now.

The Cap'n Crunch French toast sounds wild but honestly I would try it. My kids would lose their minds over that.

SoHo_SarahHa my wife would order that just for herself, kids or not. The butterscotch plus cereal combo sounds either genius or a total mess and I need to know which.

Sourdough, crunchy cereal, strawberries and butterscotch is genuinely a lot of decisions in one dish, brunch with kids who need convincing to leave the house sounds like the right occasion to test it.

Was wondering what was going in there after Daily Eats closed. Glad to see the spot is being used again instead of sitting empty.

Same, it's good to see 901 S. Howard stay a gathering place rather than a vacant storefront, which fits the Meeting House name more than they probably planned.

Dave M.Agreed, that corner felt a little sad sitting vacant. South Howard needs more spots that aren't just bars so this seems like a good fit.
