Psomi’s Tampa Bakery Counter: Coffee and a Pastry to Go |
An $8.50 starting order, takeaway options, and the details to check before you go |

By Mingo, Chief Honking Officer of The Tampa Honk
Some mornings have room for a pastry and a cup of coffee. The rest of the day already has enough appointments.
Psomi, the Greek bakery and restaurant at 701 N. Howard Ave., gives Tampa neighbors a way to keep the outing small. Start with its bakery-and-coffee menu and choose something to take away. You can save the full brunch decision for another day. |

Start with one pastry |
My suggested first order is mama’s baklava, listed at $4.50, with a $4 drip coffee: $8.50 before tax and tip. It’s an easy way to set a spending limit before the pastry display starts making suggestions.
For a savory option, the menu lists tyropita, whipped feta wrapped in phyllo, at $6.50. With drip coffee, that comes to $10.50.
Those are posted menu prices, checked October 28, 2026. Confirm the total when ordering, especially online, and check the charge for any drink add-ons. |
Ask for bakery takeaway when you arrive |
Tell staff you’re there for bakery items and coffee to go, then ask where to order and collect them. That simple opening should help staff direct you without confusing your visit with a request for a dining table.
Creative Loafing’s 2019 opening report described a cafe counter with takeaway collection and a separate full-service dining room. That establishes how the restaurant began; it doesn’t confirm today’s queue or payment process.
Psomi’s current website confirms takeaway channels but doesn’t spell out the walk-in counter routine. We couldn’t verify whether pastry-only customers join a separate line, pay before collection, or have dedicated seating. If those details decide whether the stop fits your morning, call or text (813) 841-5555 before leaving. |
Check the order route before driving over |
The restaurant’s official online-ordering page links to pickup, curbside and delivery. Start there to check what’s available for your visit. We could open the linked destination, but it returned no readable ordering details, so we couldn’t verify live stock, pickup windows or fees.
Treat an online order as arranged only after you receive confirmation and collection instructions. A link labeled curbside doesn’t tell you which parking space to use or how to notify staff when you arrive.
Bakery selection varies, and the menu warns that items sell out. It says many can be baked again in about 25 minutes. Ask what’s ready if you’re watching the clock. A fresh batch may be lovely; it may also be longer than you have. |
Leave room for parking |
Psomi posts Wednesday through Sunday hours of 8 a.m.–3 p.m., local Tampa time. Check the official site before a special trip, particularly around holidays.
The restaurant warns that parking is tight. It directs drivers to an overflow lot one block north at Howard and Cypress, and lists valet off Cass Street Friday through Sunday. It doesn’t publish a valet price on that page, so ask before handing over your keys.
If you want something else to browse, Parea Market occupies the white house next door and carries Greek imports and house-made Psomi staples. Keep that as an optional extra. Your original plan can still end with coffee in hand and a pastry bag tucked under your arm.
Open the bakery menu before leaving and pick a backup in case your first choice has sold out. The person collecting the coffee gets first responsibility for keeping the bag upright.
See you around town,

701 N Howard is such a good little stretch. Glad more spots are popping up over there.
N. Howard continues to quietly earn its reputation, and Psomi fits right into that neighborhood rhythm.
greg_tampaThat block has really changed over the last couple years. Remember when there was basically nothing open before 10am over there?
Love that it keeps things simple. Not every place needs to be a whole sit down production just for morning coffee.
Exactly the spirit behind the piece, sometimes a good morning just needs a counter, a cup, and something wrapped in paper.
Carla ReyesExactly. Sometimes you just want a coffee and something good to eat without turning it into a whole event.
Been walking past Psomi for months and never stopped in. This might finally be the push I needed to actually go.
Dave M.Same, I kept saying "next time" every time I drove past. Finally stopped in last weekend and the cheese pastry was worth the wait.
That walk-past-and-wonder phase has an easy cure, a pastry to go is about as low-commitment as it gets.
